Over 12 months from July 2023, each artist will take the stage for a month-long period at QV1 in Boorloo (Perth). The five large scale digital screens located in the building’s publicly accessible forecourt at 250 St Georges Terrace will become a unique canvas for the artwork.

Designed to create opportunity for Western Australian First Nations artists to share their work with Boorloo audiences, this curated program features artists working in a range of mediums and techniques including photography, illustration, and painting.

Through an open Expression of Interest callout, we received submissions from artists across the State and beyond sharing stories of Country, culture, family, community, and identity in connection to Western Australia. - QV1

EMILY ROSE

APRIL 2024

Emily Rose

Artwork, Dilbi (Leaf), is exhibiting at QV1 in April 2024. She has written a poem as part of this work:

this place holds me,
a mother to her baby,
ushers me to silence,
conversation begins.
an inward knowing
reflecting landscapes,
interior song she sings.

leaves charred and scorched,
leaves’ edges barbed.
these leaves divulge detrimental times.
transitions of seasons maturing.
times harmed.

 I call on new leaves
with the next setting sun
to sway and dance
temporarily,
softly melt.
homecoming,
on the skin of mother nature.
